An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Procurement Specialist to join our growing team, working in York and Huddersfield. This role is permanent, working 4 days per week, 2 days based just outside of York and 2 days based in Huddersfield centre. The role may be split into 2 x 2 day posts.

Reporting to the Regional Procurement Manager you will be responsible for leading the process for procuring contracts for a variety of expense categories and other projects and services to meet legal requirements and deliver value for money. You will be producing tender and contract documents, working to KPIs and liaising with other teams to ensure contracts achieve value for money including cost savings and improved service levels.

As well as leading on a number of procurement's and one-off tendering activities, monitoring contracts, and analysing spend information, you will be working closely with staff across the College providing advice, guidance, training and support for their day-to-day purchasing activity.

Job requirements

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of procurement, including experience of managing tendering processes, and meeting EU regulations for public sector procurement. Experience in the education sector or a public sector organisation is essential, as are excellent communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to work accurately to deadlines are also essential requirements. CIPS membership is desirable but candidates that are working towards CIPS or can demonstrate suitable alternative qualifications and/or experience will be considered.

We are hiring during the COVID-19 lock-down. To start of, this role will be remote, returning to normal once the lock-down has been lifted.

This role is permanent with a salary up to £37,000 FTE (depending on experience)

The role can be either 2 days or 4 days per week, some flexibility around days worked is possible.
